Job Description: Ramadan Guest Qari for Leading Taraweeh Prayer for ILM Center (Archived – This position is now filled and not accepting applications)

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Ramadan Guest Qari to lead the Taraweeh prayer during the holy month of Ramadan. This position requires someone with exceptional Quranic recitation skills and a strong commitment to fostering spiritual growth within our community.


Key Responsibilities

  1. Lead Taraweeh Prayers
    • Conduct congregational Taraweeh prayers throughout Ramadan (8 Rakahs each night)
    • Maintain consistent timing and structure for daily prayers
    • Lead Friday/Jumma Sermons and Friday prayers for the community
    • Interact warmly with attendees, encouraging conversation and participation.
    • Deliver a brief talk between Taraweeh prayers offering context for the ayah being recited.
    • Use personable communication to build rapport (while remaining respectful and inclusive).
    • Help foster a supportive, welcoming community environment.
    • Coordinate with organizers and be open to feedback for improving sessions.
  2. Quranic Recitation Excellence
    • Recite the Quran with proper Tajweed (pronunciation rules)
    • Deliver melodious and spiritually uplifting recitations
    • Ensure clarity and accuracy in all recitations
  3. Community Engagement
    • Create a welcoming and spiritually enriching environment for all worshippers
    • Deliver meaningful sermons and discussions about Ramadan’s significance
    • Engage with diverse community members through educational dialogues
    • Strong people skills and comfort speaking to diverse groups.
    • Clear, pleasant speaking voice (not required but a plus).
    • Friendly, approachable demeanor; good sense of timing for jokes and informal banter.
    • Reliable, punctual, and responsive to communication.
    • Experience presenting or leading small groups is preferred.
    •  The ideal candidate is warm, approachable, and skilled at connecting with people—able to give engaging talks, lead light-hearted interactions, and create a welcoming atmosphere.
    • Deliver engaging, clear lectures or presentations to the community.
    • Reliable, punctual, and responsive to communication.

Required Qualifications

Essential Requirements

  • Proven Experience: Demonstrated background in leading prayers and Quranic recitation
  • Islamic Knowledge: Deep understanding of Islamic teachings, particularly Ramadan-related principles
  • Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and public speaking abilities
  • Community Focus: Ability to inspire and engage diverse congregational members

Preferred Qualifications

  • Language Skills: English language proficiency is required, though Arabic language skills are an added bonus but not mandatory.
  • Additional Languages: Proficiency in other languages to serve diverse communities
  • Educational Background: Formal Islamic education or equivalent experience
